At Papagayo Bike we offer you all the possibilities to travel around Lanzarote by bike, whether you hire one of our excursions or go on your own.
This route is 64 km long. From Puerto del Carmen you leave and travel through the south of Lanzarote. The road to La Gería is very well paved and has little traffic; this section is at sea level. La Gería is a wine region with an altitude of 350 meters.
Bordering the cliffs and after crossing the old LZ-701, which is passable for cyclists, you reach the crater El Golfo, you arrive at Playa Blanca and then climb up to Femés.
It has slightly steeper climbs, which is why this route is considered good for endurance training. You will see lovely landscapes on this route, with volcanoes and cliffs.
Central route: Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, Costa Teguise, Teguise, Famara, Tinajo, Puerto del Carmen, with the rental bikes.
You travel a distance of 95 km, with an average height difference of 900 m. You leave Puerto del Carmen towards Arrecife along the 12 km long Paseo Marítimo cycle path and then to Costa Teguise.
From here you have to overcome a height difference of 350 m (in 10 km) to reach Teguise, to the vicinity of the Famara massif. This route takes you to the centre of the island, around the Jable area, with a totally sandy route.
You return along a path that crosses the Parque Natural de los Volcanes and La Gería, and you arrive back in Puerto del Carmen.
Flat route: Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, Costa Teguise, Órzola.
This route is on flat ground where you can train your basic resistance, there are no steep slopes. You leave from Puerto del Carmen to Órzola (and return by the same route).
The road runs close to the east coast. We recommend taking the old road between Tahiche and Arrieta, although the asphalt is not perfect, as there is much less traffic.
Steep route: Puerto del Carmen, Tías, San Bartolomé, Tahiche, Teguise, Haría, Mirador del Rio, Tahiche, Puerto del Carmen.
This is a route for those who want to push themselves further. It goes north through the Famara Mountains climbing 600 m, which is the highest point on the island. You can even cycle through the Tabayesco valley to Arrieta, and then go from Maguez to the Mirador del Rio and Órzola.
The distance covered is 105 km, very demanding.
