2- Learn to climb impossible slopes.

 
Be careful, being a good climber is not just a matter of having wonderful legs, you also have to know how to dose and measure your effort , at the same time, moving in the appropriate gears affects our performance. We should not change, for example, when we are using a lot of force on the pedals. The chain is very tight and therefore we run the risk of breaking it.
 
When we go up a hill it is undeniable that we have to use a large part of our energy to make ourselves go up, we normally put our entire body in tension (arms, back, neck...) but in reality this is not necessary. To save effort, we have to try to go with the upper part of our body relaxed to avoid consuming unnecessary energy.
 
When tackling a slope, do not start at a high pace . At first “the slope is not difficult” because you are fresh and it is easy to get carried away by the emotion and pick up the pace, but it is a much better tactic to conserve energy by starting softly, progressing little by little as you see that the port has little left. and maintain a uniform rhythm, without jerks .
 
Many times, effort and fatigue make us pedal in a strange way, for example opening our knees excessively. But far from helping us, what it does is waste our energy with each pedal stroke. The more you focus on making the pedaling round and effective, the better your legs will transmit the power to the transmission.
 
There is no perfect pedaling cadence for all cyclists, but if it is too low you will be overloading the muscles and joints and if it is too fast you will excessively raise your heart rate and breathing. Find your rhythm, between 70 and 80 rpm and keep in mind that if you do not control it, it will tend to decrease as you do kilometers of ascent, be aware and slow development if necessary to keep the cadence high.
 
Try to climb any slope pedaling seated and with your torso high. In this way we will economize our effort and allow oxygen to reach our lungs better. If you look at professional races, cyclists rarely stand up and when they do it is for a short time, basically to make a start and leave the other competitors behind.
 
I hope that these two little tips help you improve your technique on a road bike, think that technique is something that we must work on regularly. We have to adapt to pedaling correctly, using the gears, etc. All this will take us a while, but in the end, we will do it automatically.
